NEW YORK, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Reporter Judy Woodruff, who has provided news coverage to U.S. television viewers for more than 25 years, is returning to PBS on "NewsHour with Jim Leher."

Woodruff left "NewsHour" in 1993 to join CNN, where she anchored the weekly "Inside Politics" until it was canceled in 2005, Variety said. Prior to joining CNN, Woodruff was chief Washington correspondent and anchor for PBS' "Frontline with Judy Woodruff."

As a senior correspondent on "NewsHour" the veteran reporter will lead in-studio discussions and act as a back-up anchor to Leher. She also will be editor of the show's political coverage for the 2008 elections.
