CENTURY CITY, Calif., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A second round of layoffs has hit Bauer Martinez Entertainment, which officials said also would move from its MGM tower offices in Century City, Calif.
Among those let go in the latest round of job cuts were Martin Barab, president of Lucky 50 Productions, the feature film production arm of Bauer Martinez Studios, Variety said.
A three-picture distribution deal with MGM was voided as well, the company said. MGM will not release the final film in the deal, "I Could Never Be Your Woman," starring Michelle Pfeiffer, which had been scheduled for a March 2 domestic release.
The cuts, on the heels of disappointing returns for several BME pictures, reduced Bauer Martinez's Los Angeles-based staff to 12 from 35 a little over a year ago, when chairman-CEO Philippe Martinez launched Bauer Martinez.
A spokeswoman said the company plans to distribute and market films "The Flock, with Richard Gere; "The Amateurs," with Jeff Bridges, and "Fragile," starring Calista Flockhart.
