Will Galactica travel a fourth season?

PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Earthly programming executives in California said they haven't decided whether "Battlestar Galactica" will travel the galaxy for another season.

Ratings are down for the Sci Fi Channel show not because it has fewer viewers but because viewers watch it via DVR or iTunes downloads, not on the cable station, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said. Sci-Fi executives said they hope to reverse the trend by moving the show to a Sunday timeslot.

Contracts with actors will expire in February, so a decision on whether to renew it for a fourth season will come then, said Mark Stern, Sci Fi Channel executive vice president of original programming Mark Stern

If "Battlestar Galactica" storylines aren't wrapped up, Sci Fi Channel will be deluged with angry e-mail from fans, Stern predicted.

Should Battlestar Galactica be renewed, producers have discussed making a TV movie about the first and second Cylon wars that would air and be released on DVD before the start of season four.

"Galactica" spin-off "Caprica," Stern said, will still be considered when network executives determine new programming in March.
