People magazine reported the 31-year-old actor, who plays Dr. John "J.D." Dorian on the NBC sitcom, admitted that peoples' acceptance of his film "Garden State" was encouraging news in regard to his own situation.
"I think I suffer from some mild depression," said Braff, who also wrote and directed the 2004 film drama. "So to have millions of people go, 'I watched your movie and related' was the ultimate affirmation that I'm not a freak."
The actor, whose short-lived romance with singer Mandy Moore got significant media attention, will now take on the role of a man with a bad career and a family of his own.
"At my age, those are the things you are always talking about," Braff said of his role in the film "Fast Track." "If I'm going to have kids, how will that change things? I like to think that all of the introspection leads to something really funny."
People said Braff also confessed he was optimistic regarding a possible seventh season of "Scrubs."
