LEXINGTON, Ky., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Texans Joe Ely, Lyle Lovett and Guy Clark will join Hoosier John Hiatt for a winter tour offering songs about subjects ranging from Chihuahuas to Billy the Kid.

The four musicians write songs that tell stories about everyday life, but often with a unique twist, a report says. Ely's songs, like "Musta Notta Lotta Lotta" and "My Baby Thinks She's French," reflect what the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader calls "literary extremes."

The tour starts Jan. 13 in Cincinnati, with stops in Indianapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, Louisville and other cities before concluding in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in March.

Ely's new album "Rattlesnake Gulch" will be released in February. In March his memoir of life on the road, "Bonfire of Roadmaps," will be released.
