BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- The last copies of "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin's fatal 2006 run-in with a sting ray off Australia have been destroyed, his widow told U.S. television.

Terri Irwin said on "Access Hollywood" that reports she had kept a copy of the undersea tragedy were not true and that "all footage has been destroyed."

Irwin was struck in the chest by the venomous bard of a giant sting ray while his cameraman kept the tape rolling. His wife indicated that with the death investigation over, the video was destroyed.

"There're standard protocols for examining certain evidence and that's no longer necessary," she said in the interview, which "Access Hollywood" plans to air Thursday through next Monday on the syndicated program.
