LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Several new faces were among the nominees for the annual DGA Awards announced in Los Angeles this week by the Directors Guild of America.
Martin Scorsese was nominated for the seventh time for "The Departed" along with five colleagues who received their first nominations.
Nominations also went to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for "Babel," Bill Condon for "Dreamgirls," Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris for "Little Miss Sunshine," and Stephen Frears for "The Queen."
The winners will be announced Feb. 3.
The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday that Clint Eastwood was shut out despite his two critically acclaimed films about the World War II battle for Iwo Jima. Movie award handicappers had speculated that having two movies out might dilute the voting for Eastwood.
