LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Drew Barrymore and Fabrizio Moretti, the drummer for the Strokes, have reportedly ended their five-year relationship with one another.
US Weekly reported that sources close to the couple confirmed that the 31-year-old "Charlie's Angels" actress has broken up with the 26-year-old musician.
"Drew said they needed time off," one source claimed.
The alleged break-up may finally conclude a rollercoaster relationship that saw the couple engaged in a heated public argument last year and Barrymore praising Moretti in February.
"Right now I'm in a phase of 'I'm not even your girlfriend. I'm your best friend who is madly in love with you,'" she had claimed. "The longest I've ever been with someone was like two to three years, so I'm in uncharted waters. Right now I'm more into championing him as a human being than gushing love for him."
Sources have said the couple's opposite personalities were too much to overcome.
"He's younger, and she's more worldly," a source told US Weekly. "He doesn't like the Hollywood stuff. He doesn't get her friends."
