In addition to "Labyrinth," which represents Mexico's selection in the foreign Oscar category, the critics group honored "United 93" director Paul Greengrass for helming the Sept. 11-related drama.

Forrest Whitaker took home the group's top acting award for his turn in "The Last King of Scotland," while Helen Mirren's acting in "The Queen" was recognized as 2006's top effort from an actress.

The newspaper said that the critics group also honored Mark Wahlberg and Meryl Streep for best supporting acting in "The Departed" and "The Devil Wears Prada" respectively
