NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Nate Berkus, who has made a name for himself as the interior decorator for U.S. TV host Oprah Winfrey, has been named this year's sexiest gay celebrity.

A release from OUTzoneTV.com said that in its first-ever Sexiest Gay 2007 poll, the 35-year-old designer edged out his fellow celebrity competitors with a 4.2 rating out of a possible five.

Based on the one to five scale, that had five representing the sexiest rating, Berkus beat out TV host Ellen DeGeneres, "Amazing Race" contestant Reichen Lehmkuhl and "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris for the top honor.

"Brokeback Mountain" star Jake Gyllenhaal took home the title of Sexiest Gay-Friendly Celebrity, beating out fellow actors Hugh Jackman and Julian McMahon for the honor.

Other runners-up behind Gyllenhaal were singer Justin Timberlake and the famed celebrity couple of film stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

The survey by the Bravo cable network Web site questioned nearly half a million people between Dec. 8 and Dec. 28, 2006.
