Broadway set to offer 'Prelude to a Kiss'

NEW YORK, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- New York's Roundabout Theater Company is set to begin previews next month at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre of the romantic drama "Prelude to a Kiss."

Playbill reported starting on Feb. 16, the Daniel Sullivan-directed production will begin previews in preparation for its official launch March 8.

Just as in the 1992 film of the same name, "Prelude" will follow a couple whose love and wedding is temporarily disrupted when an old man magically switches bodies with the prospective bride.

Actors Alan Tudyk and Annie Parisse will play the couple for the production, while former "Frasier" co-star John Mahoney will take on the role of the old man.

Mahoney, who is best known for playing Martin Crane on the long-running NBC series, previously performed in a Broadway rendition of "The House of Blue Leaves" for which he won a Tony and a Theatre World Award.

The play is set to run through April 22, Playbill said.
