LILONGWE, Malawi, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Yohane Banda of Malawi, the father of Madonna's newly adopted son, David, says he is desperate to contact Madonna to see how the boy is doing.

The Malawi Daily Times reported that Banda's efforts to get in touch with the U.S. pop star, who lives in Britain, have been stalled and hampered due to insufficient contact details.

Banda said he has not spoken to Madonna since the boy left the country and only met the pop star once at Lilongwe Magistrates' Court.

Banda told the Daily Times that last week a well-wisher from Scotland sent him a check worth several thousand dollars.

Banda said he will use the money towards trying to get in touch with his son.

"I don't have her (Madonna's) phone numbers and mailing addresses. I want to find out how my son is but I don't know how I can do it," Banda said. "If there are people who can help me to get these details, please come forward."
