Busta Rhymes may be charged with assault

NEW YORK, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Rapper Busta Rhymes may be slapped with another assault charge after he allegedly attacked one of his employees in New York just after Christmas, a report says.

Rhymes is out of the country but will be hit with the charges as soon as he returns to New York the day after New Years, sources told the New York Post.

Eddie Hatchett, who was one of Rhymes' drivers, filed a police complaint that said he went to see the rapper on last week to collect money he was owed, but instead of paying him Rhymes started swinging.

The rapper allegedly hit Hatchett many times, including one shot to the face that caused a laceration, the driver said.

Hatchett filed the report in lower Manhattan Wednesday.

The police plan to charge Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, sources told the Post.

Rhymes is already facing charges for allegedly beating up a fan who spit on a car in the star's entourage Aug. 12, the Post said.
