NEW YORK, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- With 216 events presenting 3,354 awards to various films, an average of 9.18 awards were given out daily this year, a Hollywood report says.
Daily Variety said the average 9.18 awards a day during 2006 were brought about through a newly diverse field of awards offering kudos to anything from best film involving chainsaws to best extraterrestrial-based film.
Nevada's EBE Film Festival Awards presented films with honors during 2006 for creating the top films that touch upon the world of Unidentified Flying Objects, while top honors at this year's Chainsaw Awards went to singer-director Rob Zombie's "The Devil's Rejects."
Not to be limited to only Hollywood and its film offerings, the Czech Republic's Elsa Awards focused on best TV products, albeit in a controversial fashion due to two of the nation's three networks boycotting the ceremony.
The newspaper said the question remained whether such awards as China's Golden Roosters would become more commonplace.
