RENO, Nev., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- While Cedric the Entertainer recently completed a night of stand-up in Nevada, the comedian has no such plans for New Year's Eve.

The 42-year-old comedian, whose career focus has shifted more toward film than stage comedy, performed in Reno Saturday night, but Cedric told the New York Daily News the reason why he stopped performing on New Year's Eve three years ago.

"My toughest New Year's Eve gig was probably in Oakland (Calif.)," the comedian confessed. "Oakland can be a tough crowd anyway. But the show never really got off the ground and the crowd really got upset. By the time I hit the stage, I probably did about 15 or 20 minutes when they had to do the countdown. And they were rowdy and drinking."

Yet the comedian, who recently offered his voice to the animated film "Charlotte's Web," added that the popular holiday was behind one of his favorite teenage memories.

"(Everyone) would drink," Cedric said of a New Year's Eve party he once attended, "and this girl I was infatuated with kissed me. I was totally out of my class! It was strictly a New Year's Eve kiss -- no tongue, nothing like that."
