Daly doesn't want to be next Dick Clark

NEW YORK, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- U.S. TV's Carson Daly, who will host NBC's "New Year's Eve With Carson Daly" Sunday, told People magazine he does not want to be the next Dick Clark.

"Dick Clark is a huge inspiration for the huge success he's achieved," Daly told the Los Angeles Times. "But that's where I stop. The world is changing."

Ryan Seacrest, who will present ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," echoed Daly, saying he greatly respects the man but does not wish to completely emulate him.

Clark, 77, suffered a debilitating stroke in 2004. Although he's not hosting the legendary Times Square New Year's Eve show, he is scheduled to make an appearance, People reported.
