Rome's mayor has 4 movies in the works

ROME, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Four books written by the movie-buff mayor of Rome are being adapted for the silver screen, it was reported Monday.

Three of the tomes by Mayor Walter Veltroni are being turned into screenplays while the fourth will be the basis of a documentary on Africa.

Daily Variety said the subject matter for the feature flicks includes Argentina, terrorism and jazz pianist Luca Flores.

Veltroni, who has aggressively campaigned to revive Rome's movie industry, says he is an insomniac who writes to wile away his sleepless nights.
