Celebrities to voice 'Turtles' film extras

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Four more celebrities have signed on to provide voices for the Hollywood version of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," but only as minor characters.

While actor Patrick Stewart recently signed on to take on the villainous role of Max Winters in the big screen version of the TV cartoon, IGNFilmForce.com reported that celebrities like Sarah Michelle Gellar have been relegated to providing voices for veritable extras.

Gellar will reportedly take on the minor role of April, a human researcher who assists the mutant heroes, and she will be joined in the computer-graphics laden picture by director Kevin Smith, and film stars Chris Evans and Zhang Ziyi.

The famed "Clerks" director will lend his voice to a cook in the Kevin Monroe-helmed production, while Ziyi and Evans will voice evil minion Karai and vigilante Casey Jones respectively.

Meanwhile, the Web site said that the lead turtle roles of Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo will all have voices of non-celebrities.
