The Hollywood Reporter said that the drama was not only tabbed as 2006's best film by the critics organization but also gathered a directorial award for Frears and recognized writer Peter Morgan as producing the year's top screenplay.
While Frears split his Best Director honor with "L'Enfant" heads Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne, "Queen" lead Helen Mirren was honored alone as the 2006's top actress and a best supporting nod was given to her co-star, Michael Sheen.
Best Acting kudos went to Sacha Baron Cohen for his lead role in "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," while the association gave Best Supporting Actress honors to Cate Blanchett for "Notes On a Scandal."
The critics group named "Happy Feet" 2006's top animated film, "Manufactured Landscapes" as the year's Best Documentary and "Thank You For Smoking" as the Best First Feature.
