Fox21 tabs dramas as Slamdance finalists

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Three scripts for new U.S. TV dramas have been chosen by the Fox21 production company as finalists in the Slamdance Teleplay Competition

Daily Variety reported the production company has tabbed "American Standard," "Predators" and "Ghost Towns" as the finalists in the third annual rendition of the TV development competition.

Slamdance head Peter Baxter said that the selection of the three finalists from the more than 600 original entries follows in the tradition of quality TV programming.

"Slamdance and Fox21 have a very symbiotic vision, so this partnership makes perfect sense," Baxter said. "Both organizations are continually striving to tap into the vast amount of new and emerging creative talent that we know is out there, just waiting for the chance to be seen, heard, discovered -- and put to work."

The winner of the competition, that will be determined after each script's creator pitches the idea to Fox21, will win a script deal that includes the creation of a pilot episode and a $45,000 purchase price.
