ROME, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Italy is getting ready to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of beloved leading man Marcello Mastroianni.

Mastroianni died in December 1996 of cancer at age 72 in Paris. Best known for his role as the journalist in Federico Fellini's classic film "La Dolce Vita," Mastroianni was known for his love of food, his chain-smoking and, of course, his love of the cinema, Italy's ANSA news agency reports.

Mastroianni appeared in more than 140 movies during his illustrious career. To mark the 10th anniversary of the actor's death, Rome's Casa del Cinema (House of Cinema) museum is planning to showcase a retrospective of his films.
