PARIS, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Two female French journalists will not be able to cover the country's presidential campaign after being romantically linked to current political ministers.
The Times of London said Beatrice Schonberg, a newscaster with France 2, and France 3's Marie Drucker have both been forced to abandon covering the presidential campaign to avoid any accusations of impropriety.
While Schonberg's dismissal from covering the campaign was due to her marriage to Social Cohesion Minister Jean-Louis Borloo, Drucker was forced to see her romantic life dragged into the public eye.
Her relationship with France's Minister for Overseas Territories Francois Baroin was revealed through incriminating photos in a celebrity magazine, forcing her to remove herself from the campaign as well.
The issue of their involvement with French President Jacques Chirac's ministers is due to the European country's strict privacy law.
The paper said that both women, who maintain their journalistic integrity would have eliminated any worries of partiality, have revealed plans to sue the publications that popularized their romantic liaisons.
