
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Top honors went to The CW's "Everybody Loves Chris" and CBS' "Numb3rs," at the recent Family Television Awards ceremony in California.
Daily Variety reports "Chris" was honored as the best TV comedy of 2006, while CBS' math-based series was recognized as the year's top drama at the eighth annual Family Television Awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The event, hosted by singer Haylie Duff and actor Stephen Collins, also named "Dancing With the Stars" as 2006's top offering in the category of reality television.
While comedian Howie Mandel was honored as the best TV game show/reality host, "Monk" star Tony Shalhoub and Jennifer Love Hewitt of CBS' "Ghost Whisperer" were recognized for their acting abilities.
Variety said that of all the new TV series this year, ABC's "Ugly Betty" was 2006's best new series for families.
