PARIS, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld is seeking $45,000 in damages in Paris courts from a British writer who allegedly breached his privacy in her book.
The book tells the supposed history of the wild-living heyday of the 73-year-old German-born designer and his French rival Yves Saint-Laurent, the Times of London reported Wednesday.
Judges have yet to pass a ruling on the demand for damages over Alicia Drake's "The Beautiful Fall: Fashion, Genius and Glorious Excess in 1970s Paris."
Lagerfeld sent Drake a complaint after the book was published, telling her that the book was "more based on suppositions and improvised conclusions than on truth."
The book depicts Lagerfeld and Saint-Laurent as enemies in the fashion scene, adding that although the two men were three years apart in age they allegedly once shared a boyfriend.
Fewer than 50 copies of the book have been sold in France and it is no longer available for purchase in the country.
