NEW YORK, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- The musical rendition of Nick Hornby's novel "High Fidelity" is set to close its doors after less than a week of performances at Broadway's Imperial Theatre.
The New York Daily News Wednesday reported that the musical from director Walter Bobbie opened last Thursday, but poor reviews have forced the show's producers to announce that production will end on Sunday, after only 14 regular performances.
The musical, just as Hornby's 1995 novel and a 2000 film rendition of the same name, focused on a record store owner whose failing romance prompts him to explore his dysfunctional history of relationships.
The end of the production, that also had 18 previews during its limited run, comes less than a month after the cancellation of a similar Broadway musical.
The musical "The Times They Are A-Changin'," inspired by rocker Bob Dylan, met a similar fate recently after poor reviews forced it to wrap up production after 28 performances, the Daily News said.
