Zellweger: 'Miss Potter' not a chick flick

NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger says she doesn't think her new film, "Miss Potter," should be labeled as a "chick flick."

Helmed by "Babe" director Chris Noonan and co-starring Ewan McGregor and Emily Watson, the film is about Beatrix Potter, the British author of the "The Tale of Peter Rabbit."

"I don't think this is a 'chick flick' at all," Zellweger said Sunday. "I think it's far more complex than that. It's not meant to be female entertainment. It's an important, important story, and it's a beautiful story and I don't think I've met a guy yet who's seen it and didn't connect to it, or cried. It's just real. It's a human story, the most powerful kind of story."

The star of "Chicago," "Cold Mountain" and "Bridget Jones's Diary" said starring in film was not a "conscious decision" to satisfy a fan base that might expect this kind of movie from her.

"I know that if I feel like I've been there before, I don't really have much interest in repeating myself and going there again," she said.
