LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Former 'N Sync member Lance Bass and "Amazing Race" winner Reichen Lehmkuhl have reportedly split, ending Bass's first public gay romance.

A source told "Extra" that the couple agreed to the breakup Sunday without giving a reason, Zap2it.com reported.

When questioned about spending the holidays with Lehmkuhl, Bass reportedly said, "I don't know. A lot can happen in three weeks."

The 27-year-old pop star made up one-fifth of the boy band 'N Sync, alongside Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, J.C Chavez and Chris Kirkpatrick. While the band was popular, Bass kept his sexuality a secret because he feared the news would take the focus away from the band.

He announced that he was gay in July because he wanted to stop the rumors.

"The thing is, I'm not ashamed -- that's the one thing I want to say. I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this," he told People magazine at the time. "I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy."
