LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The Sci-Fi Channel is moving its critically acclaimed "Battlestar Galactica" to Sunday nights for the second half of its season in January.
Monday's announcement included the statement that "Galactica" will move to Sunday nights beginning Jan. 21, after the series premiere of the supernatural-detective drama "The Dresden Files," Zap2it.com reported.
"Sundays have long been considered an important night for television. (The scheduling change) is a signal to our viewers that this is destination programming and should be considered appointment viewing," said the general manager of the network, Dave Howe. "It only makes sense that Sci-Fi would plant its signature series there."
"Battlestar Galactica" was a part of Sci-Fi's Friday block of original series, which the channel plans to keep going later in 2007 with the return of "Stargate" and the new show "Painkiller Jane."
The first half of the "Galactica" season will end Dec. 15.
