George Clooney loses second pet this year

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Months after enduring the death of his pet bulldog, Hollywood actor George Clooney is now coping with the death of his pet potbellied pig, Max.

The pig, which Clooney had taken as a pet nearly 18 years ago, died on Friday. Zap2it.com reported that the "Ocean's Eleven" star has admitted how much Max's death has affected him.

"He was as old a pig as the vets had ever seen," Clooney said of Max, who was partially blind and had arthritis. "I was really surprised, because he's been a big part of my life."

"It has been a bad year for my pets," he added, also mentioning he has no plans to take another pig as a pet. "I had a bulldog that died this year, too. It's strange how animals become a big part of your family. They really become a big issue with you."

The Web site said Clooney, who will next appear on-screen in "The Good German" on Dec. 15, got custody of Max from actress Kelly Preston after the couple ended their romance nearly 18 years ago.
