LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- National Hockey League star Mike Modano is engaged to "Dancing With the Stars" alumna Willa Ford, Ford said in Los Angeles.
"We were out to dinner the other night, and I think he had (the ring) with him the entire night," Ford told Us Weekly at the Arby's Action Sports Awards. "He was really nervous. Then right before we went to sleep he asked me and I said, 'Yes!'"
The 36-year-old Modano, who is a center for the Dallas Stars, had the ring he bought redesigned three times before proposing because he was nervous about having it "just right," the magazine said.
Ford also told Us Weekly that the couple, who met at an event for Modano's charitable foundation, have been dating on and off for more than four years in a mostly long-distance relationship.
Ford and Modano plan to marry after the hockey season ends, the report said.
