Three 6 Mafia settles 2003 concert lawsuit

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- The Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia has settled a lawsuit by a Pittsburgh man who claimed he was injured during one of its concerts more than three years ago.

Ramone Williams had filed the now-settled suit against the Oscar-winning group over a 2003 concert where he claims to have been beaten after the rappers incited a riot with one of their songs, E! Online reported.

The financial specifics of the October settlement, that came after Three 6 Mafia's attorneys were unable to have the suit dismissed over First Amendment rights, were not revealed.

Williams had already won a judgment against the Pittsburgh nightclub, Rock Jungle, for allowing him to attend the concert despite being underage at the time.

E! Online said that the song at the heart of the lawsuit, "Let's Start a Riot," was actually performed by former part-time Three 6 Mafia rappers Robert "Koopsta Knicca" Cooper and Darnell "Crunchy Black" Carlton and not by any of the band's regular members.
