Madonna thanks her adoption inspiration

LONDON, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- England-based pop queen Madonna has let it be known Irish charity campaigner Bob Geldof was the one who inspired her to adopt an African baby, a report says.

The Michigan-born singer sent Geldof a heartfelt thank-you letter for the inspiration and also made a donation to his Band Aid charity fund, The Sun reported Friday.

After Madonna performed at last year's Live 8 concert in London's Hyde Park, she and Geldof reportedly talked about the situation in Africa, leading the pop star to visit the country of Malawi.

A source close to Madonna said, "She feels that she is forever in Sir Bob's debt for having introduced her to the country where she eventually met her beloved son.

"She is extremely grateful to him for bringing David into her life and feels she owes him a lot," added the source,
