LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Producer Jonathan "J.R." Rotem has entered into a deal with Epic Records to launch Beluga Heights, Rotem's own record label, in Los Angeles.

Allhiphop.com reported that Rotem, a multi-platinum producer, will run Beluga Heights out of his Rotem's Chalice Recording Studios.

"I think I have the ability to both make hits and help make artists," Rotem said in a statement. "I don't want to overstate things, but I'm very excited about my forthcoming work."

Rotem has produced tracks by such popular artists as 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Britney Spears.

Allhiphop.com reported that the first artist to be signed to Beluga Heights is 16-year-old Miami rapper Sean Kingston.
