Kidman says meeting Urban awakened her

NASHVILLE, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Meeting singer Keith Urban awakened actress Nicole Kidman, who said she was "damaged" when she met and later married the troubled U.S. country star.

"I was very wary, and damaged," Kidman said in an interview with Vogue magazine and reprinted in U.S Weekly. "But now I feel like I've woken up again. Rather than living through characters, I've learned to be myself."

The Oscar-winning actress said she and Urban, in a rehabilitation center for alcohol abuse, spend "an enormous amount" of time together. She said she would like to have more children.

"I'd like to be a mother again," she said.

Since her marriage to Urban in June, Kidman has moved to Nashville, which "is the most time I've spent anywhere in years." She said she could have remained married to actor Tom Cruise "for the rest of my life."

"It was 11 years of my life," she said. "It wasn't 50 years, it turned out to be 11."

But one important thing she learned about marriage: "Not giving up who you are; I think that's a big lesson."
