Chenoweth set to join Broadway's 'Tree'

NEW YORK, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Tony Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth is set to return to Broadway with the upcoming musical, "The Apple Tree."

The Gary Griffin-directed production will feature the actress -- who won a Tony for "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" -- in a trio of roles. The musical is set to have a limited run from Dec. 14 through March 11, 2007, Playbill reported.

Performing opposite Broadway regulars Brian d'Arcy James, Walter Charles and Marc Kudisch, Chenoweth will play Princess Barbara, Eve and Ella in the Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick three-piece musical revival.

Chenoweth recently has taken her act to the big screen as well, with roles in "Bewitched," "Deck the Halls" and "Running with Scissors."

The production will be presented at the Roundabout Theatre Company. Previews had been set to begin Tuesday, but were pushed back a day due to an accident suffered by Chenoweth during rehearsals, Playbill reported.
