Will Smith nervous about daughter dating
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- For her efforts in the film "Sherrybaby," Maggie Gyllenhaal has been named best actress by Sweden's Stockholm International Film Festival.
The 29-year-old, who recently became a mother, was presented with the festival's best actress award for her portrayal of a recently released convict who attempts to reunite with her daughter, Zap2it.com said.
The festival in the Swedish capital also recognized actor Ryan Gosling for his turn as an inner-city high school teacher in the film, "Half Nelson," while Daniel Sanchez Arevalo's directorial efforts in "Darkbluealmostblack" were also honored.
Gyllenhaal's efforts in "Sherrybaby" also helped the film take home the 17th annual festival's coveted Bronze Horse award for best picture, as cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle was awarded for his contributions to "The Last King of Scotland."
Rounding out the festival, which concluded on Sunday, was Lasse Hallstrom, whose films such as "The Cider House Rules" and "Chocolat" helped garner the director the festival's Lifetime Achievement Award, the Web site said.
