MUMBAI, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Actor Shahrukh Khan has been officially tabbed to take the reins of the popular Indian game show, "Kaun Banega Crorepati," next season.
The "Swades" actor is scheduled to take over the popular Indian game show from current host Amitabh Bachchan, with new episodes expected to be broadcast near the end of next January, the Press Trust of India said.
Shahrukh Khan said that the STAR network's decision to offer him the popular series, based on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," is an honor and he will attempt to maintain the standard set by its current host.
"I was pleasantly surprised when STAR offered me the show. I was a participant in season one of KBC ... and little did I know one day I would be hosting it," he said.
"It is a huge act to follow, that of Mr Bachchan," he told the Press Trust, "but it also excites me that I am getting an opportunity to reach out (and) talk and interact with my audience through a medium where I began my career as an actor years ago."
