'Jim' star happy to be syndicated

NEW YORK, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor James Belushi says he is thrilled his family sit-com, "According to Jim," is now syndicated on the CW network.

With repeats airing five nights a week, the show has also been renewed for a sixth season to begin on ABC early next year.

"It's a dream for any actor or any writer or producer," Belushi, the show's star and executive producer, recently told UPI. "There's only a handful of shows IN syndication!"

Noting how rare multi-camera sit-coms are these days, Belushi said news the show would return for another season was "the most exciting thing of the year!"

"It was on for five years and that seemed like enough and we're in syndication and they picked us up again," he said. "I'm having a really nice run."

Belushi said he thinks viewers find the show charming and can relate to the happily married couple he and Courtney Thorne-Smith play.

"I get that all the time, 'Oh, you are just like my husband.' And we try to take our stories from what happens in real life. ... The show is based on what happens to a lot of guys."
