LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Film actor Kirk Douglas and his wife, Anne, have been named official hosts of this year's Thanksgiving celebration at the Los Angeles Mission.

The Oscar award-nominated actor and his wife will headline a list of entertainment and political celebrities at the annual event, where area homeless individuals are presented with a hot Thanksgiving meal, a news release from the mission said.

Joining the "Lust for Life" actor at the Wednesday event will be TV personalities Leeza Gibbons and Kevin Nealon, along with various political leaders such as Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and California State Senator Jack Scott.

The involvement of Douglas and his wife is not the first philanthropic effort from the couple, whose previous endeavors lead to the honorary naming of the mission's Anne Douglas Center for Women.

During his illustrious film career, Douglas not only garnered Oscar nods for his roles in "Lust for Life," but also for his efforts in "Champion" and "The Bold and the Beautiful."
