LONDON, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- "Riverdance" star Michael Flatley walked out of a London hospital on his own power Saturday.

Flatley, whose public appearance quashed rumors that he continued to suffer from a mysterious but serious illness, told the Daily Mail, "I am on the mend."

Flatley, 49, with his wife of one month, Niamh O'Brien, at his side, told fans that he was feeling much better and was looking forward to getting back on the road for performances.

All European tour dates of his latest production, "Celtic Tiger," had been canceled. Flatley had received treatment at the London Clinic for "a severe viral infection" for nearly two weeks, the Mail said.

Born to Irish parents in Chicago, Flatley gained fame in the popular "Riverdance" before creating his own Irish dance shows, including the current "Celtic Tiger."

Spokesman Clive Banks said that they would soon announce appearance plans for 2007.
