LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Producer Mark Williams is set to bring a novel about the late Chicago mob boss Sam "Momo" Giancana to Hollywood after purchasing the book's film rights.

The novel was written by the mobster's brother, Chuck Giancana, and its claims that "Momo" ordered the deaths of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy and actress Marilyn Monroe will now make the leap to the big screen, said the Hollywood Reporter.

Williams, who is a top U.S. infomercial producer, has long had an interest in the Mafia from his childhood in Chicago and will now make the most recent attempt to bring the infamous mobster to life on screen.

The mobster, who earned his nickname for his unpredictable behavior, has been the topic of several screen biographies and was featured in the TV miniseries, "Sinatra."

The Reporter said Williams has already hired Alfonse Ruggiero Jr., who won an Edgar Allen Poe award for writing an episode of "Wiseguy," to create the adaptation's screenplay.
