Will Smith nervous about daughter dating
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- A representative for U.S. actress Ellen Pompeo has confirmed that the "Grey's Anatomy" star has gotten engaged to her boyfriend of nearly three years.
The 37-year-old actress, who plays Meredith Gray on the popular ABC drama, was proposed to by her boyfriend, music producer Chris Ivery, on her birthday Friday and received a 3.5-carat emerald-cut diamond and platinum ring, said Us Weekly.
The couple's engagement comes after three years together -- they grew up 10 miles apart in Boston, but did not become romantically involved until running into one another in Los Angeles grocery store.
"I had to go 3,000 miles away to meet a guy who practically grew up next door," Pompeo said. "But I guess everything comes full circle."
The couple has not officially set a date or location for their wedding, but Pompeo did offer a hint where the event could take place.
"My boyfriend and I travel to Italy quite often and I think that's always the most romantic for us," she told Us Weekly. "We went to Bologna and he has family there and I think that's our favorite place."
