'Borat' stays No. 1 at U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- The satire 'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" remained No. 1 in weekend U.S box office estimated receipts.

The $18 million spoof took in $29 million in its second week, up 9.6 percent as its distribution increased from 837 screens to 2,566 screens.

"The Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause," remained No. 2 with $16.8 million and the animated "Flushed Away" -- also in its second week -- was No. 3 with $16.7 million.

The Will Ferrell comedy "Stranger Than Fiction" was No. 4 with $14.1 million in its first week; "Saw III" fell one spot to fifth with $6.6 million; and "Babel" was No. 6 with $5.6 million.

"The Departed" was seventh with $5.2 million; "The Return" was eighth with $4.7 million; and "The Prestige" was No. 9 with $4.6 million.

Russell Crowe's romantic-comedy, "A Good Year," rounded out the top 10 with $3.7 million.
