David Cassidy to release hits album

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Seventies U.S. heartthrob David Cassidy, approaching 60 now, is releasing a greatest hits album titled "Could It Be Forever."

The Times of London's Saturday Magazine recently interviewed the modern-day version of Cassidy in Los Angeles and accused him of possessing vanity and vulnerability with a dash of paranoia.

"If ever there was an illustration that fame is a cruel and capricious bitch," The Times said, "it is a 56-year-old man, who for five years was the most desired person on the planet ... now dabbing on foundation and a slick of kohl to bring out the green of his weary eyes."

Apparently, after the interview, Cassidy's PR person contacted the reporter and photographer and asked them if they had inadvertently picked up his makeup bag.

Cassidy fronted the television group "The Partridge Family" from 1970 through 1974. His new album, out Monday, will feature remastered hits, such as "I Think I Love You," and "Cherish," along with 23 other songs.
