NEW YORK, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Singers Alicia Keys and David Bowie were on the bill this week for a New York benefit for Keep a Child Alive.
Keys and Bowie performed a duet on Bowie's classic "Changes" before a star-studded audience that gathered Thursday to benefit the international group's efforts to help African children suffering with poverty and AIDS, Billboard magazine reported.
While Bowie focused his three-song set on his own hits, Keys borrowed from others by performing renditions of Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings," Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" and "War" by Bob Marley.
The event also featured performances by Marley's son, Damian, along with rockers Louis XIV and eclectic singer Angelique Kidjo.
Billboard said that with Bowie's model wife Iman and comedian Wanda Sykes serving as gala hosts, the event helped draw attention to deadly issues that face children throughout Africa.
