Location drew Crowe to new film

TORONTO, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Aussie actor Russell Crowe is making the U.S. and Canadian interview rounds for the opening of his next movie, "A Good Year."

The Chicago Tribune had its shot at him in a Toronto hotel room, where Crowe said took the role of London financier Max Skinner because he thought "it would be fun to shoot a movie set mostly in Provence in the south of France."

The movie opens Friday.

Crowe teams up once again with "Gladiator" director Ridley Scott in the story of a failed London banker who moves to Provence to revive a vineyard he has inherited from his beloved uncle -- a part played in flashback fashion by Albert Finney.

A beautiful California woman played by Marion Cotillard says she is the long-lost heir and disputes the property's ownership.

Wine aficionados should love the movie, in which making good wine becomes a metaphor for Crowe's ability to take control of his life and walk away from the big bucks of the big-business world.
