Kylie Minogue presents U.K. child award

LONDON, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Australian pop singer and cancer survivor Kylie Minogue presents the Pride of Britain Child of Courage award Tuesday to a child who has survived cancer.

It will be Minogue's first public appearance since her diagnosis of breast cancer last May, which forced the cancellation of her sold-out tour across Europe, the Daily Mirror said Monday.

There likely won't be a dry eye in the audience when the scenes are shown between Minogue and the little girl during the Mirror's "Pride of Britain" awards on ITV1 television Tuesday night.

The child, 6-year-old Katy Miles, was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer two years ago. The award is a total surprise to the delighted child, who will be able to meet her idol.

The Mirror reports that Katy thought she was traveling to London to "see some dancers," but instead Minogue will be on hand to give her the award for courage. Minogue will sing her trademark "Can't Get You Out of My Head" to Kylie.
