New warrant out for Snoop Dogg

BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Rapper Snoop Dogg has been charged with possession of a deadly weapon after trying to board a plane with a collapsible police baton in California in September.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, had the collapsible baton in a laptop case. It was discovered during security screening when Snoop was on his way to San Francisco on Sept. 27, the Orange County Register reported.

Andre Mannsourian, the Orange County Deputy District Attorney, said the baton could be extended by just the flick of a wrist and once extended it remains locked and can be used to poke, jab or swing at someone.

"There is no doubt that this thing is a weapon," Mannsourian said. "There is no innocent or harmless reason for having this item."

Snoop's attorney, Donald Etra, claim the baton has a telescopic effect that Snoop was thinking about using as a prop in a video.

"This case is without merit," Etra said. "The D.A. knows it. Snoop knows it, and soon a jury will come to the same conclusion."

Mannsourian has filed a possession of a deadly weapon charge and issued a $150,000 warrant for Broadus' arrest.
