Moss fails to show at fashion awards

LONDON, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The British Fashion Awards played out without Model of the Year Kate Moss showing up to collect her award.

The Telegraph reported that designer Vivienne Westwood accepted the award on Moss's behalf just before Westwood was named Red Carpet Designer of the Year in ceremonies Thursday.

Moss's absence comes in the wake of a scandal this year resulting from pictures that allegedly showed Moss using drugs.

The British Fashion Awards, at London's Victoria & Albert Museum, named Mario Schwab as New Designer of the Year, Eugene Souleiman as Fashion Creator of the Year and Kim Jones as Menswear Designer of the Year. The award for Designer of the Year went to Giles Deacon.
