Hasselhoff to be one of Vegas' 'Producers'

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff has signed onto a Las Vegas production of Mel Brooks' hit stage musical, "The Producers."

The production is scheduled to run at the Paris Las Vegas hotel, featuring Hasselhoff as the flamboyant, cross-dressing director Roger DeBris, Harrah's Entertainment said in a press release.

"I'm overjoyed that David Hasselhoff is going to play Roger DeBris in the Las Vegas production of 'The Producers,'" said Brooks. "He has an incredible comedic timing, terrific musical theater experience and a stage presence that I think will be a perfect marriage with the role. And by the way, he has great legs for that dress."

The Las Vegas production is set to open Jan. 31 and run seven nights a week in a 90-minute version without intermission.

"The Producers" opened on Broadway in 2001 and went on to win 12 Tony Awards -- more than any other Broadway show in history. It was adapted for film in 2005.
